welcome and thats because you cant. You cant motion tween from 11 graphic to another - btw - when
you say graphic what do you mean? "Graphic" could be an imported bitmap or a Graphic Symbol
(containing anything from an imported bitmap to vector art, etc....?

what are you trying to do?

I am new to Flash and am having difficulty making a motion and/or shape tween between two graphic files. Can anyone steer me in the proper direction?

The basics of it is you import a graphic to you Flash stage, select it and
convert it to a graphic (push F8 and select graphic). Now for example, if you
wanted it to move across the stage, you place the graphic where you would like
to have it start, then go on your timeline to a later frame (frame 10 for
example), right click on that frame and select 'insert keyfram'. Now at that
key frame (frame 10) move the graphic to a new position. then click on your
timeline anywhere between the two key frames, (between 1 and 10), right click
and select 'create tween'. Now when you run your movie, (cntrl + ENTER) your
graphic will animate.

This is the basics of timeline animation in Flash. Any change you do to the
graphic at it's second keyframe can be animated, Ie size, shape, color alpha.

Thanks Chris...I have two graphics jpegs. When I import them to the library and
and bring the one out in Symbol editing mode and follow These instructions:

"Now for example, if you wanted it to move across the stage, you place the
graphic where you would like to have it start, then go on your timeline to a
later frame (frame 10 for example), right click on that frame and select
'insert keyfram'. Now at that key frame (frame 10) move the graphic to a new
position. then click on your timeline anywhere between the two key frames,
(between 1 and 10), right click and select 'create tween'."

"Shape tweening will not occur on layers containing symbols or grouped objects"

Your input is appreciated.

you can't apply shape tweens to symbols or objects - the error message says it all - hit F1 and
search for shape tween animation - you can only apply *shape* tweening to *shapes* - and usually
simple ones at that.
What you are trying to do *i think* is a true morph between 2 different bitmaps - this is not what
flash was designed to do - you will need a true morphing application to render this style effect
then import it into flash as an image sequence.

Flash tweens will not 'morph' from one JPG to another, if that is what you are
trying to do.

If you have two different JPGs that you want to tween, you can make a tween
for each - each in its own layer on the timeline - no problem with that.

Maybe best of all practice with just one and get a feel for how it works.
