flash (macromedia): I'm editing someone else's template from a dynamic flash site & it has a movie
clip & I need to change the text which I can easily do and it shows up fine on
stage, when I play the swf from it it shows the old text. The text also slides
in from the side if this is any help.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

could be that you are editing wrong instance, or see old cached copy of the file
or simply the text is serve dynamically so no matter what you type will be replaced
with the string value given in real time.
Best if you could copy paste the problematic clip, save as new file and let
us check. We don't need the entire template, but we need to see the source
to be able to do better than just guessing.

How do I put the new file here? Not sure I know how to get to the code of the
..fla ? or what ever else you would want to see after I copy and save as a new
file
I am very new to this program.

you will need to upload to your own server and provide URL :)

If it is a movie clip, try to select and and CTRL C, then open new file
and CTRL V to paste it in. See if it works like it does in previous file.
If there is still problem, than save it and upload to your server so
I can check it.
