All swf files are transparent

It is the Flash Player that draw a background (or not). If it is a flash
player control, then that is in conjunction with the browser (or other
program) that is hosting it.

The problem is, that Flash player has a lot of bugs when it is drawing
without a background .. and these bugs are in areas that are unrelated to
simply how things are drawn (eg buttons can stop working).

BE VERY WARY ... NEVER EVER use transparent mode unless you are SURE you
have thoroughly tested on every platforms (PC/Max and each browser). It is
always better to redesign to avoid needing transparency that rely on a buggy
'feature'.

If you are making an application take a look at mProjector, it does
reall nice windowless flash playback, on mac and windows.
