flash (macromedia) : Help Learning The Basics

I am tyring to edit a swf file in macromedia pro 8 and I am having some troble.
When I open the file all it does it play. All I need to do is edit some text
and change out some images. Could one of you tell me where to start please?

that is correct :) SWF is compressed final output while FLA is the authoring format.

Edit PSD can be done only in Photoshop, flash does not not allow it. Totally different
file formats. Flash allow to import the PSD but it is not fully compatible so it might
flatten it or import using QT player. Best to use other format than PSD.

Ok I figured out I need to be edting the fla file or what ever Is there any way
to view the layers one at a time?

When I move the time bar it plays all the layers at the same time and I cant
find the files I need to change.

In the mean time how do I open/edit a psd file?

I think these are what I need to edit to point the links to the right places on my page.
