Brennon,

I've seen this again and again in the forums. Over the years, I've seen
enough frustrated consumers that I've decided never to subject myself to the
experience. ;) My own conclusion is that template houses are, essentially,
Flash "sweat shops," where designer/developers get paid by the FLA. They
look great, for sure ... but they're not *really* made to be edited.

I don't know if it's the end-all, be-all, but you should definitely
check out the Movie Explorer panel. It's often overlooked, but can really
come in handy when you're trying to locate assets and code. You'll see that
you can search for various items, then filter out your search results based
on text; movie clips, buttons, and graphics; ActionScript; video, sounds,
and bitmaps; frames and layers; and a bit more.

I'm a "relatively" experienced flash user. I've purchased an online site
template that I really like, though. After downloading, I found that the .fla
files are ridiculously convoluted. Picking through these is taking forever.
Does anyone have a tried-and-true method for going about things like this?

In addition to general methods, I have a few particular questions:

Is there any way to search all Actionscript in a .fla file--for instance, all
occurences of a certain variable or class instance?

Is there any way to reveal where all instance of a certain symbol are used in
a .fla file?

Thank you!
