Help!
I cannot get Flash 9 (activeX) to intall on IE7. I've been through EVERY
single fix/suggestion on the Flash support site and it still fails :-(
Anyone got any other suggestions? I'm tearing my hair out here...
p.s. it works perfectly in Firefox, but I need it in IE, so I can download
stuff from Sky tv.
PC running Win XP Home sp2.
Thanks, Mike

Tried that too. I uninstalled IE7, ran the flash uninstaller, re-installed IE7,
re-installed flash, still didn't work. Very frustrating...
I also Googled the problem and went through some of the suggestions there, but
none of those worked either.
It's almost like IE7 is just ignoring the flash installation, because flash
doesn't appear in the list of activeX controls, even though the files are
clearly there.

I ran the uninstaller also but cant reinstall because I cant even get it to
open a download box...all I see is the download page click download and get
another page with no download like its being blocked.I have pop up blocker
off..psh filter off allowing everything and still no flash...cant understand
why there is no info on the flash download page or in the support page for this
problem..are we the only two with this problem?

I had the same issue. Here's how I resolved it on my Windows XP (32bit, not
64bit OS) system. Hopefully it will work for those having issues with IE7.

Downloaded the latest player version (9):

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.ex
e

Navigate to this folder:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\

Copy these files to the IE plugins folder:
* FlashPlayerTrust (entire folder)
* NPSWF32.dll
* flashplayer.xpt

The IE plugins folder for me is:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\

Again, this seem to do it for me but try installing the Flash Player 9 plugin
into IE 7 at your own risk, of course.

Best luck

PS - For Mozilla Firefox, the process is similar except that the path is
different (duh!): C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\

Hi,

Had this problem happen a few months back, try this;
Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player installation for Windows
(http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19166&sliceId=1)

It basically means that you have to use a Flash uninstaller program;
(http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1)
to uninstall left over traces of your previous Flash player.
You will be asked to download it and Run; few seconds later, you will be able
to install the latest Version of the Flash player;

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl
ash

This will resolve your problem.

Kind Regards,

Boxing Boom

Hi Boxing Boom,
I've tried that, loads of times and it doesn't work for me (however it does
appear to work sometimes for other people)
I've also been through every suggestion on the Flash support site, but they
don't work either .....which is why I posted my original msg :-)
I haven't tried Musashi's suggestion though. I'll try it and let you know if
it works.

Regards,
Mike

OK that's it. I give up. IE7 and Flash 9 just isn't going to work on my pc.

I've tried Musahi's suggestion above (I didn't have a flashplayertrust folder
though) but that didn't work.
Tried uninstalling flash etc, etc again, didn't work. I even tried
uninstalling IE7 and using IE6 instead, but flash still doesn't work.
Having wasted several days on this, I'm just going to give up and wait for
flash 10, maybe that will install properly....

Thanks to everyone who have posted suggestions, your help was much
appreciated. I think I'll just stick with Firefox until Adobe get their act
together and get a flash player installation that actually works.
Regards,
Mike
