I'm slightly lost here. It shows that I can buy Adobe Flash CS3 professional
for $599 and that is the program BUY ITSELF!!

Then, I found this Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium package which included
Dreamweaver, photoshop, Flash CS3 Professional and a whole crap load of other
programs all for $499!!!

That doesn't make sense. Is there a reason for the price differences, or some
kind of catch behind purchasing the cheaper one, or how does this work. What
do I look to buy?

The Web Premuim is only $499 if you are upgrading from Macromedia Studio or a
previous version of Creative Suite. Obviously, these products would have cost
some $$$ before so they give you a break. The full version is $1599.

Also, Adobe's website shows the full version of Flash for $699.

I would buy as much as you can afford. I recently purchased the CS3 Master
Collection Suite and I love it. Adobe has done a tremendous job with
integrating their products with the other products they have picked up over the
past couple years with acquisitions (including Flash).

So does that mean it is possible to get the full collection set with
dreamweaver, flash, photoshop etc.. all for $499??

Also, how does Adobe work with upgrades and that kind of stuff. If they
release Flash 10 Professional next year, is there a way to get a free upgrade
to the new version, or do we have to pay to get that upgrade with the new
features?

I am not the one to discuss the legalities of "commercial use" but essentially
the educational version is exactly that, for learning (usually like for a class
or something). If you are planning to publish for a company or even to sell on
your own, you need the full licensed copy. I would suggest you do a search on
Adobe's website to look at the specifics. I am sure it won't be difficult to
find.

Upgrades are handled the same as most companies. If you buy today and they
release a new version next year, you will have to pay the upgrade price for the
next version. There may be a little grace period (~30 days) but I am unsure of
what it is.
