It may be that people who fail to see your content also fail to have
Flash Player 9 (or any version of Flash Player) installed. Using something
like Geoff Stearns' SWFObject, you can very easily display default
content -- such as text or an image -- to let people know they need to
install the plugin. Meanwhile, people have *have* the plugin (and a high
enough version) will automatically see your Flash content.

This is going to sound completely pitiful, but I didn't publish the Flash HTML
file with a prompt to download Flash 9 because when I did, I struggled and
could never get some of my javascript to work. I have some javascript
ExternalInterface.call code, that interacts with my actionscript and makes my
"interactive" and "print slide show" links pop up in a window without a menu
bar, back button, etc. I was probably just inserting it in the wrong place.
Perhaps I should publish it and play with it more. Any thoughts on this would
certainly be appreciated. I'm fairly good with actionscript but completely
inexperienced with javascript and HTML. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi,
I've just put up a portfolio website- catmerrick.com- and a lot of people are
telling me that loaded video and slide shows aren't showing up on their
computers. It works fine on mine- any thoughts as to why this might be, and
what problems I should be looking for? I would be extremely grateful for your
help, and thank you for your time...

Best,
Cat

Catsy55 I made a post in the general forum about a similar problem I'm having.
My swf won't show up when I load my webpage into any of my browsers.

I visited your website in both IE and Firefox and it all appeared to work on
my side. So I doubt its a browser issue.

Cat,

In theory, this should still be fine, because the built-in Adobe
JavaScript solution should give the HTML document a reference to your SWF.
I know that SWFObject does. Here's a quick rundown of some useful links for
combining SWFObject with ExternalInterface:
