Ok, basically what I've done is built an animated character separating it into
its basic parts (left foot, leg, torso, head, eyes, etc) and I imported it into
flash ( CS3 ) from photoshop and turned it into (what I believe to be called) a
nested symbol. I've converted each part into a graphic symbol and then grouped
them up (like the eyes and the mouth with the head, etc) so that each one can
be a graphic symbol and not stray away from its parent symbol.
I've successfully made an animation using this setup and it works quite
nicely, however I have a problem:
In the main timeline, anytime I use this character setup, it plays the parent
symbol strictly from the beginning of its timeline. Since I don't want a single
shot of the character for the whole animation, how do I set the main timeline
(when using the parent symbol for all it's child symbols) to play a second set
of animations using the same parent/children (so i don't have to keep
rebuilding this character)?

Basically I'm saying as an example: I have parent symbol cat, with parts
catbody and cathead (both symbols), cathead has parts cateyes and catmouth
(also both symbols).
I put CAT into the main timeline for set number of frames
I animate the head, then the eyes and mouth using their respected timelines.
Then I have some animation or whatever in the main timeline that's unrelated
and the cat is no longer visible
Then I want to use symbol CAT again afterwards, but I don't want it to use the
start of the timeline for its parts from the last time I used CAT and want it
to either start fresh with no timeline for its parts or skip to a frame on all
the parts where I designated the next animation to be (without having to
construct a new CAT with new parts so that the timelines would be empty).

Is there some actionscript that can help me out here or something else I'm not
aware of? Basically all the tutorials i can find are very verbose in explaining
what I've already done, but not about using the same setup again and again and
having it do different things. (I'm basically making a looong feature and the
main character is going to be used throughout most of it but I can't rely on
the same movieclips for the whole animation obviously)
Thanks in advance!~
