flash (macromedia):
I've been trying to edit a .swf document to change the logo from a website
navigation bar but not having any luck. The file can be found at
http://steevo.bravehost.com/navbar.swf. I'm trying to swap the current
green/yellow logos to http://steevo.bravehost.com/logo.gif and would like to
retain the animation if possible. Is there a simple method of doing this?

Many thanks in advance!

In the Library panel...find your image and right click on it. On the window
that pops up, click the import button. Find your new image and press OK.
That should do it.

Thanks for the replies. I've got the FLA file bit sorted but am still having
difficulty with the icon. I've managed to import the image onto the screen but
I can't work out how to do the animation bit.

You don't want to import it to the screen. You want to import it to the
library. In the library is the original graphic you're importing, and then at
some point it was turned into a Symbol. In the library, the original graphic
has an icon with a green tree. The Symbol is a purple quarter of a gear.

The Symbol version is what is animating. To keep the animation, (1) import
your new graphic to the library. (2) double-click on the Symbol of your graphic
in the library. It should appear on the screen. (3) click once on the image
on the screen. in the Properties window (where it shows you the name of the
graphic and the sizes, etc), there should be a button that says "Swap". If you
click on it, it should give you a list to browse of items from the library.
Select your new graphic from the list, and that should be that.

Good luck.

wow, thanks for that. followed your instructions through until right before the
end and then came unstuck. I clicked the swap button and, even though I had
imported the new icon it did not show up in the list. I noticed that in fact
another Bitmap did not show up in the list, only Graphics, Movies and Buttons
were shown. Is there any way of converting the "Bitmap" (which is actually a
*.gif image) into a "Graphic"?

thanks again!
