flash (macromedia):
Ok, I haven't posted many times on these forums but the few times I have I've
looked for an answer from Adobe (formerly Macromedia) that would explain why
the heck I cannot get the awesome filereference class to work over SSL with
mozilla based browsers or on a Mac.

So far I've received Jack Sh#% for an answer. This problem is so old that you
can find this question being asked over a year ago on the web or here in the
forums and nobody has an answer as to if this can be fixed (I'm guessing no but
just tell me/us this answer if that is the case).

The most detailed answer I get back or have seen is it's an issue with firefox
stripping of the port the request is made over (i.e. 443 comes back as 80 thus
the flash player sandbox complains).

Is this being addressed by mozilla? adobe? nobody cares about those of us that
unfortunately have to perform file uploads over SSL?

Since there is nothing in Adobe's documentation saying this won't work with
SSL with specific browsers I feel an explaination as to how to get this to work
is in order or give those of us that paid a lot of money to get this great tool
and feature our money back.

Ok, I'm sure I'll be posting here several months from now with the same
complaint if I'm not banned for speaking my mind.

Thanks for no support adobe!!!!

There's a line at the bottom of this page you may find interesting:

"Important Note: These online forums are for user-to-user discussions of Adobe
products, and are not an official customer support channel for Adobe. If you
require direct assistance, or prefer to contact Adobe support staff directly,
please contact Adobe support."

wow, why didn't I think of that??? oh wait I have... yes call me crazy but I
did try the official support protocol and pretty much got back an answer that
said they are looking into the issue (this was probably 6 months ago by the way)

Maybe by posting this question over and over out here somebody who may know
what's going on can answer my question for me (and this isn't just my question
by the way).

Thanks for your thoughtful reply though your rock aniebel, very useful, not
really I'm lying.

Nice site abeall, I'm not sure if your post was meant to help me or not but I
do appreciate replies, just not aniebel's.

Ok well I've managed to generate the same amount of replies as in the past so
far but all unfortunately don't help me, or others in the same boat. Thanks
for your time and help, excluding you aniebel, you are not my favorite support
person I'm afraid.

Man you people really get set off easily. Let's look at the original post:

Trying to find out if adobe has acknowledge there is a bug with mozilla based
browsers and uploading files over ssl, my attitude is they will not provide an
answer so I post in the forum venting my frustration.

I had no attitude towards anybody until the second poster had to point out the
forums are not an offical support channel (everybody knows that), that answer
did not help anybody and I took that offensively because of the way they had to
write it. A lot of people out here are quick to try to make people feel stupid
when in fact all some of us are trying to do is get support that adobe is not
providing.

Why even bother replying to my replies if they don't have anything to do with
the topic, you my friend suck just as much as me except I'm the one with the
issue and you are just trying to feel cool by adding to the already useless
replies.

Thanks for nothing, I'll be sure to shed a tear over your witty reply.

Anybody have any real feedback on this issue?

insecta43;
IMO aniebel's response was quite reasonable--pointing out that this
forum was not a means to contact Adobe support directly. Your original post
did seem to be directed to Adobe, and not the other users who frequent this
forum. Aniebel had no way of knowing that you had also tried contacting
Adobe support... Note also that aniebel and others who respond are not
"support people" as you mention in your second post --they are just other
users of flash who take time to reply...
If your purpose is to find out if other users can help, then you would
be better served posting again with a more appropriate title than "money
back please"--users with an interest in that particular issue may not find
your post... The "rant" postion of the post (which after all is not directed
to the other users here) may also turn off other users who might have
information on the issue... -Tom Unger

And you wonder why people ignore you. Try less of the Ass attitude, as you can see
so far it works real wonders. Myself for sure won't bother to entertain you. In fact
will filter you out not to download posts from you any more.

Duely noted Thomas, I have posted in the past without such an "in your face"
title but it too generated little traffic, only others saying "yeah what is up,
I have the same issue."

I'll just move on and assume this issue is never going to be resolved or
identified as a real issue dispite other people reporting this problem,
including myself, in the past.

Believe it or not adobe employees do respond every once in a while out here
and this was just a last ditch effort to try to get them or anyone else to bite
since the normal support channels have been of no use to me.

Happy New Year everyone, thankfully not every site out there has to use SSL
but if you do you may have these issues.

Sorry to anyone whom I may have upset.
