What browser are you viewing this in and what kind of computer? I
notice this happens a lot on macs and also have seen it happen in the
netscape browser

White flash of movie appears against gray background of page. I've set the
background color in the document setting to the same gray color as the html
page but I still get a momentary flash. Movie itself is a transparent white gif
(text), and it appears without a white flash in the Preview mode.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

"spoti";
Add a bgcolor parameter/attribute which matches the background color
of your flash document to your object & embed tags. Note that flash publish
will add a bgcolor parameter/attribute matching your flash document
background color to the html code it generates if you wish to see an
example. -Tom Unger

Thanks, Tom. I wrongly assumed that by embedding the swf file in a Dreamweaver
document (using the Insert>Flash command), the code generated would be the same
as the Publish code. Wrong. No bgcolor parameter/attribute in the former. Your
solution and my awareness came at about the same time.
