flash (macromedia): I don't know if its a possibility for you, but mytesting with the
QuickTime H.264 codec has yielded some really impressive results.

I just encoded a 13 minute video to FLV and to WMV, and at 2 different sizes.
Not only was the 240x180 FLV file nearly the same file size (45MB) as the
320x240 FLV, but the WMV files were about half that size (appx 27MB). Can
someone explain this to me? I thought FLV was supposed to be about the same
file size as WMV. That is definitely not the case!

Are you in Flash 8? Flash 8 has a much more efficient encoding process than
MX 2004 did. Either way you should check out this article. I've found it
very helpful in choosing the right settings for FLVs

Thanks for the article. I'm using a Flash exporter in Visual Communicator (from
Serious Magic, who Adobe just purchased in Dec). It's creating huge Flash
files, but the only setting it gives you is the size of the window. It produces
the best looking flv files (I've also tried Riva, Flix and a couple other 3rd
party encoders and they look really bad compared to what VC puts out. Yes, I
know about quality vs file size). I want to use the encoder built into Flash,
but my system can't find a .msi file it needs and won't work. My IT guy has
tried finding it and can't find it either.
I bookmarked the article and will check it tomorrow.
