flash (macromedia) : Designing a flash intro

Hey guys,

Fairly new to flash, but I have somewhat of a grasp on it. Just need some
advice on how to approach this. I want my website when the URL is typed in to
have an intro, now to begin with...Do I make it as the index then have it
redirect to another webpage or how does that work? Also for the intro. I want
an image to be blown up in the middle of the screen then shrink to the top left
corner then have the navigation bar extend out to the right and a scrolling
image extend down from the image in top left. Any advice is greatly
appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Ron

Not a big fan of intros in general myself, but fwiw the intro swf would
be embedded in the index.html page (assuming your server is configured for a
home page named index.html). A get url action in the last frame of the intro
brings up the "real" home page assuming it's a different html page. That
said, the remainder of your post is difficult for me to follow and makes me
wonder if you are not designing an all flash site which would more likely
not have multiple html pages... -Tom Unger

As I mention in my previous reply you may well need a getURL action in
the last frame of your intro if you which to open another html page after
your intro is done, but really it's difficult to guess what other actions
you might need without more information on what you are planning to build.
I'm still not sure if you are creating multiple html pages, or an "all
flash" site (multiple swfs loaded into a single flash player instance
embedded into one html page, or some type of "mix" of the two approaches).
It's possible you have not yet decided these things yourself, and you may
need to look at various sites to see how they are structured before
proceeding.
Once you get started, post any specific flash issues you run into here
and someone will help. Html, css etc issues are better posted in the
dreamweaver forum(s) if you are using dw, otherwise there are lots of other
resources online. -Tom Unger

Well I don't have much experience with web design and the actions that are
needed, I was hoping someone could direct me in the right direction so I can
read up about it. I don't know if the intro should be a page then have hot
spots to click to direct to another page or how I would work that out. Thanks a
lot for all your help Tom.
