flash (macromedia) : Problem with movie clip buttons

Hello fellow flashers;) Im designing a personal promo flash site for my
portfolio. I wanted some cool buttons with movement, so I found this tutorial
online to build animated buttons using movie clips and action script. Well I
built an animation based on this... the button consists of an empty circle,
when you roll over the circle it fills in and causes a picture to the left to
fade in and a type graphic above the circle to fade in and move upward. When I
built the first button it worked flawlessly in the test movie state. But once I
started copying the movie clips(and I renamed each new copy) they still work...
but the type graphic above the circle does not show in the test movie state,
but it does show in the individual movie clip animation. Ive checked the layers
and I dont think the action script has anything to do with it because the movie
clips work... just part of it doesnt show. Im kind of new to flash... so if
there is anyone who has a solution to my problem, I would greatly appreciate
the help

Are you using a mask to make your image a circle? I think you need to use movie
clips, not graphics for masks. I ran into that problem the other day editing an
existing flash piece for a client. I may be wrong but it seems like best
practice to use movie clips for everything. Movie clips can do anything a
button and a graphic can do.
