Awkward lines in flash video on PC

flash (macromedia): I'm encoding DV video to Flash using Sorenson Squeeze. On a Mac, using Firefox
the video plays fine, but on a PC, there is an awkward vertical line. It makes
it look like the screen is cut in two. Why would this be happening, and only
on a PC?

Hmm, never mind about the PC. I'm getting the lines on PCs and MACs. I see
one vertical line and one horizontal line. As a person moves through the line,
the image looks a bit off, almost like the focus aids on the old SLRs.

Hello soffins,
Very interesting. Is there a possibility that the lines are actually in the
original and are becoming more noticable/worse as you compress the vid?

Not only can I not see them in the original material, but I can't even see them
when I preview the flash file on my local flash player before uploading the
file. Could it be something in the way the site is designed or in the way the
skin works?

Hello soffins,
Very weird- Are you using the Flash 8 vid component to play them back. Could
it be an issue where you have resized the player component and that is forcing
the video to resize and thus scrunch? Sorry I can't be of more help. I've
never seen this happen.

Jesse, thanks for the suggestion. You're dead on. I'd been doing this for a
client, for whom I could not control the html code, so I threw up some tests on
my site and was quickly able to recreate the problem and then solve it. It
seems that they just have the wrong size for the flash video.

Thanks again.
