flash (macromedia): hello

im not sure this is in the right category, but i am creating flash movies,
generally stick fighting movies. You see some movies where there is slow
motion, and you see a trail of where there arm was, like for example when the
stick guy swings the stick, you see a trail of where the stick was, like a blur.

Can anyone shed light on the making of this? :confused;
