You cannot play an FLV in reverse.

Hi all!
I am building a virtual host with a *.flv streaming into a *.swf. You can see
the examle above (stock video from Ultra 2)

I want her to kinda just "hang out" on the site using a loop. To avoid the
skip at the end of the loop, I want to make the clip run from Cue Point A to
Cue Point B, then reverse back from B to A, then reverse again and continue the
"loop" going backward and forward...

It this possible, or am I asking too much?

Not to be rude, but are you sure?

You can try to Google "FLV reverse play" and you'll get lots of results but
I've never seen anything satisfactory. All seem like hacks with varying
degrees of success. If you find anything that really works, let us know.

thanks for the advice to google it... i found some code that i will try.

in the meantime, what i did is this: to create the 10 sec loop i wanted, i
created a 20 sec video where the 1st 10 sec runs forward and the second 10 sec
runs backwards. that way, the 1st and last frames are the same and my 1st and
last frames of the loop are identical and there is no skip. removing the last
frame of the loop makes it even cleaner, because no frame is repeated...

I think that's an excellent work around when one is working with a short
video and your dropping of the last frame is precisely what 3D programs do
to handle the 360 degree rotation of objects. I assume that audio is not
relevant to your needs.

This is just a thought!

I'm assuming that your spokesperson also appears and speaks at C, the start
of the content Video. Could you use the last frame of B to C to create a
short (1/2 second) morph to become the start of C to D? Then if use multiple
content videos, you can create additional morphs for use as their
beginnings.

Visualize my video with Cue Point a being the begining, B is a few seconds
after and C is the end. The actual content with audio is between B and C. The
idea of bouncing back and forth between A and B was to create the effect of the
subject in the video (my "virtual host") waiting indefinately until called
upon, at which time the video plays past B into the content.

In my work around B to C is a reversed version of A to B and the content falls
between C and D. To avoid the skip when leaving the loop, I have to jump from B
over to C and then play content from C to D.

I wish i could Tween or morph the hosts position from the loop to a start
position on another video, then i could jump to any of several content videos
from the same loop.

I haven't done any morphing in a number of years but I use a very old
program called Elastic Reality that was produced by Avid. Some people used
the Mesh Warp effect in AfterEffects. Try this link for more recent stuff.

Good luck.
