Scrubbing sound as animating

Scrubbing sound as animating sprecks1

flash (macromedia): Rite ppl, I'm not sure if this is possible and I'm sure this problem isn't
encountered too often, so all advise is welcome. I am making an animation
where I am simulating the scratching of a record by a DJ. I have everything
set up and the sound in the file.

What I want to do is have a certain pointer on the screen animate and move to
a location where the sound of a scratch ends and then go to where the sound of
another scratch ends (hope u get wot i;m sayin here).

What I want to know is - is it possible to have the sound I have on stage
scrub along with the playhead as an aid to where one scratch ends on the sound
file. This would really speed up the process of simulating these scratches as
all I can do at the minute is move the pointer and hope that it coincides with
the sound whilst playing back the movie

any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm a little bit unclear about your question. Do you mean you want to scrub the
sound in the authoring environment? If so, easy: change your sound's Sync
property to "Stream". That is, click on any frame in the timeline layer which
contains your sound, then look in the Properties panel and you'll find the Sync
dropdown box.

If, on the other hand, you're asking how to allow the end-viewer to scrub
sound in your SWF movie, as far as I know there might be ways to awkwardly sort
of simulate this using Action Script. Check the code for the slider bar in
Kenny Bellew's sound tutorials. You might be able to alter this to provide
real-time scrubbing.
