flash (macromedia): Yes - Flash CS3 has all of what Flash 8 offers and more - the course just won't talk about what is
new in CS3.

I'm new to flash and want to take a class in it. The instructor requires flash 8, but I'd like to purchase falsh cs3. Can that work or are they just so different?

Although, keep in mind that Flash CS3 is capable of using ActionScript 3.0,
which is completely incompatible with ActionScript 2.0, which Flash 8 uses.
This just means to make sure you always select ActionScript 2.0 rather than 3.0
when you work in Flash CS3 if you want to be able to transfer it to Flash 8.

So Flash CS3 can also output AS2? I was confused on this from looking over
the features and video's on the site.
I thought they got rid of AS2 all together in Flash CS3.

Do you know if CS3 also has the tips and wizards for AS2 that is does for AS3?
The wizards and auto converting to AS3 looked neat but I still use AS2.

That is why I search the forums about the new software, to learn thing like
this.

Thanks.

That would be awful if they got rid of previous versions of AS - AS3 is in addition to As 1 and 2.
Just like all versions of flash, features are backward compatable, still useable even if listed as
"deprecated".
