Another stupid q -- flash (macromedia)

you cant make "part" of a MC transparent - use a Mask - hit F1 and type "Mask" or similar to read
about this topic in flash help.

how do you make PART of a movie clip (i.e. a portion of a halo shape)
"transparent" so that it appears as if it's fallen behind a certain object (ie.
part of the background picture). i'm guessing masks are somehow involved. i'd
like to make the transparent portion change as it falls, so it looks more
realistic.
