flash (macromedia):
:confused;
I have been having problems with launching Flash 8 Professional.
When I launch the application nothing pops up. I check the task bar, and
Flash.exe is running at over 26,000K!
I purchased this program couple yeas ago when it was first released and it
worked perfectly, and I'm happy to say that Flash has saved me lots of
financial turmoil. I guess the tables have turned. I have several projects
coming up, and I really don't want to resort to Swish! Any comments would be
greatly appreciated.

Since Flash is loading properly on nearly every other machine, I suggest you
may wish to have a look at your own system instead of inferring Flash is the
problem. What have you done to solve this? Have you tried uninstalling then
reloading Flash? Have you done a fresh install of your o/s lately? Are you
having problems with any other software? Reporting that it doesn't work is
important, but what's more important is all the other information only you can
supply...information that is essential if anyone is to have a chance of helping
you.

Hi,
Since you see the Flash runs on the task manager, this means it is already
running, when you do ALT+TAB, does the Flash icon appear on the running
applications? some times, Flash starts but its icon does not show on the task
bar.
Otherwise, try to reinstall the Flash before you go for windows reinstalling.

Hope this helps

Hi,
It is very strange!!, did you tried to install Flash to another driver? if it does not work, i guess you will need to contact the customer service.

Thank you all for the feedback. Well, I am using a valid Windows XP
Professional SP2 with all of it's latest updates. The beginning of the year I
do a "Clean-up," Uninstall Windows, format, etc. Flash actually worked after
the latest "clean." All of a sudden, it started to act pretty funky. I would
Safe-mode uninstall, clean drive, reg-clean, and reinstall. Pretty standard.

All other applications are working fine (actually, Illustrator CS2 is acting
very weird, it won't allow me to save.)
Do you think it's a graphical error on the vector output of my graphics card?
I have an Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 256mb. (I do admit, it's pretty old, but it
gets the job done, and in tip top condition.)
2GB of ram (it's what I need to get the job done.)
3.5 Pentium 4 Extreme processor.
Optimal cooling, dust free environment, temperature controlled, and that's
just the case!

With all these factors, which probably has nothing to do with the problem I'm
facing...

Does Flash require anything specific enabled/disabled for it to function
properly; ie- Services, Java, ActiveX, NetFramework, etc.

If the process is running, obviously something is stopping (or needed) to make
Flash work.

Now let's say that I did "bit the bullet," and succumb to hours of Windows
Installations and updates, and the same thing occurs? Paradox.

Computer upgrade perhaps? Everything else works, including my newly purchased
SwishMax application. And I really hate Swish, for the record.

Sorry, for the rant. Needed to vent. Any comments would make my day...
