This has been mentioned on a couple of other forums so someone surely must have
come across this
I'll try again
I am on a PC using XP. I downloaded a trial version of Flash 8. It worked the
first couple of times but now refuses to load at all. Occasionally it gets as
far as the little start page, says copying files then initializing fonts then
it disappears and that's it. I read somewhere that you need to disable the
start page because it is searching the internet for something???? But how on
earth can you disable your start page if you can't get in to the program in the
first place
I have tried this on two different PCs and it still won't launch. Why do
Macromedia always manage to mess things up in the end?
How could a font have become corrupt? And does anyone know of any way I can fix
this?
It can sometimes take up to an hour before the start page appears so I think
it is something other than a font problem
It's not the PC as I've tried it on another machine and the same thing
happens. Also the trial was downloaded directly from the Adobe site. It's not
off a disc
I've contacted Adobe direct but heard nothing back
I'd be grateful for any suggestions or if anyone can point me in the direction
of another trial version of Flash
what are the system's spec? maybe you dont have enough disc space or ram?

Corrupt fonts are the bane of any designer, and they actually are more common
than you may think. It will destroy any program's response time, then won't
let you in anyway.
To test for corrupt fonts, move all your non-system fonts into a random folder
"where the sun don't shine," and try to start the app. If you still have the
same problem, its not a font issue.
