Size Limit for fileUpload? Rabel

flash (macromedia): What is the size limit for the fileUpload when using the fileReference coding. I have looked around and cannot find any definitive answer.

Thanks,

Man, I havent been able to get any information on that fileUpload.fla for
months. I thought at least this was simple enough. I am very disappointed in
these forums since adobes "takeover", where has all the support went.

So in months you haven't been able to test this yourself and give us a
definitive answer? I'm very disappointed that you expect to have everything
given to you and to not contribute back to the community!

I've been a member here for a long time and don't see any downturn in these
forums ? if anything I see more support. They are user to user support forums
and back in the MM days I hardly ever recall official employees responding to
requests. Since Adobe took over it is quite frequent to have some of their
folks cruise through and answer questions. Not all the time, but frequently
enough.

So on to your actual problem ? are you actually having a problem? Or do you
just want to know for future reference? I have seen many mentions of a 100Meg
limit but have no direct experience with that. It is also mentioned in the
documentation. So I'm going to go with that.

That took me at most 3 minutes of search on the web and looking in the help
files. Wow, how awful.

Thanks for your answer - I have been very frustrated with the support on the
issues I have had with the file - that is a sample file that comes with flash.

I do remember that I used to have answers from macromedia support on a regular
basis maybe they only answer the easier questions.

"I'm very disappointed that you expect to have everything given to you and to

Excuse me. Who the hell do you think you are, you dont know me - I see that
you have 4600 posts that is great for you. I try to give help when I can and I
do in other forums but there are a lot of people like you that answer everyones
posts, so I dont get a chance to get in there a lot.

"So in months you haven't been able to test this yourself and give us a
definitive answer?"
I have asked a lot of questions on this file not just size limit. I have seen
the 100 mbs but also its says NOTE: ALTHOUGH FLASH PLAYER HAS NO RESTRICTION ON
THE SIZE OF FILES YOU CAN UPLOAD OR DOWNLOAD, THE PLAYER OFFICIALLY SUPPORTS
UPLOADS OR DOWNLOADS OF UP TO 100 MB.

But for some reason I cannot upload more than about 2.5mb, my server allows
20mb which I have tested using an asp upload script. So if your gonna come on
here and try to talk down to me and then post the documentation without ever
even looking at the file before then dont waste your time or mine.

Has anyone else had/seen this problem before?

My point is that many folks expect someone else to be the "expert" for them. If
you have been having this problem for a month, you could probably become the
expert on this very issue and provide the help that you wish was out there.
Sorry that it isn't out there.

The documentation IS a bit wonky. But it is what it is.

There was no file or link or even an actual problem posted in either of your
two posts in this thread. So there was nothing to go on. That being said, 2.5
does seem awfully small given the (possible, maybe sorta) 100 MB limit and your
servers 20MB limit. I don't think a huge number of people use the
FileReference, but if even the few who do ran into a 2.5 limit I think there
would be a lot more posts about it here. So we have to assume it is something
specific to the setup you have ? browser(s), isp, flash version, the magnetic
declination of your home town! I have no idea but it has to be something.

Is it a particularily slow connection?
Does it seem to time out at maybe the 15 second limit?
Can you post a link and I could try uploading a file?
