flash (macromedia):
I'm using Flash 6 video player.
There's no reason for me to use any higher.

I have a serious problem though.

It hogs ALL the download bandwidth and doesn't let ANY other button presses
work.
(I've tried publishing as Flash 7: still same problem.)

For example... I have it on the front page.
One it starts downloading and playing: any other presses on any other button
simply doesn't respond.
It only responds when the current video playing has been fully loaded.

Ideally... I want to keep the Flash movie be on the lowest possible player.
I can't see why changing to a higher player would solve the problem.

Or is this just a well known bug?

Thanks.

How large (byte-wise) is the FLV you're downloading/playing? I presume you're
using HTTP for deployment and not real-time streaming (via RTMP/Flash Media
Server), correct? Can you post the URL to your test movie?

hi

i have a few domains with the same problem. :(
on of them is: www.platformofcreativity.com.

this one has a front page that is all in flash.
i did this because before i had the page in html....
what was happening was that half the page would load with all its graphics...
and then... the video would start playing....
but then NOTHING else would load - until the video had finished loading. :(

so to solve this: i coded the front page in flash.
i hadn't noticed until recently that when the video had started playing: NONE
of the othe rlinks would respond when clicked.

i'm really screwing over this. :(

don't know what to do.

the size of the video playing in this case: 15MB and being downloaded
progressively as an FLV.
(can't afford to get the media server - and wouldn't want to for most of my
projects anyway.)

other websites i have: all html apart from the video.
same problem: when the video kicks in and starts playing - nothing else
responds when clicked on.

what can i do?
would it help if i changed the cache loaded or something?

i haven't changed anything.
i've just used the media player and have not made any changes.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks.
