flash (macromedia):
Hey all,

I ran across http://www.tripleslanguage.com/ yesterday. Was wondering if
anyone had the foggiest idea as to where to start to achieve a card-flipping
effect like this. I've seen some stuff on page turning in 'Flash Hacks' but I
think this brings it to a whole other level.

I'm thinking it might have to do with backface culling, or some sort of 3d
rendering in actionscript, but the cards behave so realistically, that I think
it could be a tween as well...

Any ideas would be appreciated! If no ideas, just check it out. It's really
cool!

Impressive. I think that this effect would actually be easier using keyframes rather than actionscript. Not that that would be easy, either. Good times.

this looks to me like it was made in a 3D program and exported as an image sequence.

Maya or 3D Max comes to mind - both pretty deep programs.

Hi Chris,

Could you give me any ideas as to which 3d programs are commonly used to
achieve this type of effect? I would like to take some courses on 2d or 3d
animation and would appreciate any sort of advice on a starting point. I have
no prior experience in animation (aside from tweens, and using actionscript).
By the way; congrats on your new book. I'm saving up for it!
