flash (macromedia): After importing them open the Transform panel where you may find they are at a percentage other than
100% in size. Just type in 100%.

The main layer of my movie is a jpeg at 100 dpi. When I import it to the stage,
Flash converts it to 72 dpi, which makes everything too small. I'm using Flash
MX. Do later versions of Flash support 100 dpi, and if yes, which ones? If no,
what can I do?

Computer monitor resolution is 72dpi so Flash converts the file to the correct
output size. What reason do you have to want the file at a different
resolution? If you want the file to print you'd be better served making a .pdf
and lauching into acrobat (and then you'd want the target resolution at 300dpi).

Everything will be exported as 72 and you can't force it to 100.
The scaling tho can be resolve by simply replacing the image with new
one from the library. After import, delete it from stage, open library CTRL L
and drag drop the image on stage. It now "should" have the right size.

Or reset the resolution of your original image to 72 dpi in Photoshop with the Resample Image block unchecked. That way it maintains its pixel dimensions.

These jpegs are pages from web comics (for instance,
http://talismenseries.com/d/20050702.html), and they are drawn and display at
100 dpi. For example, save the file from the web, open it in Photoshop, and
you'll see the dpi is 100. Display the jpeg in an html file, and it will retain
its proper size of 580 X 900. But import it into Flash and Flash will shrink it
to 417.6 X 648.

I am putting sound to these jpegs, and they are unusable at a different size.

Chris and John are both right - especially Chris: I just had to remove the
Transform and it expanded to 580 X 900. Duh!
The colors are a little desaturated, so in the end I might choose my alternate
method of creating the sound in Flash and using javascript to link sound to
jpeg, but I'm glad to have this simple solution. Thanks!
