Is there a way, using only flash to write text, from a text area on a Flash
document, to a txt file

I know I can do it using PHP, ASP, Perl and other seprate programs, but is
there anyway that Flash could do it on its own

From within a browserenvironment; NO (not without serverside scripting).
From within a projector: NO (unless using a third party app). Depending on
the amount of data and on what you want to achieve; the Shared Local Object
might be of interest to you.

Hi,
In flash 5 there was an option in the .exe-file.
But it was taken out because of virusses that where made with flash 5.
Flash 5 was able to acces everything and instal and exec files on your
computer.
So also create virus, and execute them.
I once seen a example that you can do cookies, but i don't know how that
done anymore.
Maybe you can find a tut in a searchengine. Flash and cookie.

good luck.

It isn't some kind of mistake: Flash isn't meant to be a general-purpos
application development environment. Just as Java in its applet mod
can't write to the hard drive except for a restricted "sandbox", Flas
movies are very limited in what they can do *on purpose* to reduce th
security implications of loading the movies in web pages

Well after reading this I come to the point that I also need more help. I have
searched the forum for a way to write a txt file from flash without much help.
So is it possible? MX 20004 Professional claims to be designed to create
application and writing to a file is an important part of being an application..
I can use coldfusion, XML, etc to interact with my application on the server
but I NEED to create a simple txt file as well. CAN IT BE DONE??
