flash actionscript : Loading HTML into a variable?

Hi:

I'm trying to load an html page into a variable, separate the hytml tags from
the content and redisplay the content in my Flash movie. I know this sounds
like a job for xml, but I'm stuck with some very rigid and uninteresting html
templates and I'm trying to see if they can function as a sort of invisible
data feed. Is this nuts?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

yes!!

if you're running windows, you might be able to use something like the
windows scripting host to take the html files, strip out the tags that
don't render in flash, and put the remaining markup into an xml node
that could then be read in and displayed.
