this is what i know, someone please help me. i know now that Flash does not
have the ability to create files and folder on the hard drive [which sux, but
is ok]. i do also know that director has the ability to create and write to
external text files.

however, i don't know if director has the ability to create a folder and
download files directly to that folder. this is what i would like to do. i'm
making a program [flash exe file, ok.. a game] that users will download from my
site. the game will be internet based, so it will have to connect and such. the
need to create folder come from having it installed in a folder the user wants
and saing that install folder in a sharedobject [registry] since i don't think
i can write to the real registry. also, i want the exe to linkup and look for
updates, then download them and install them in the correct folder.

that said, i'm sure there is a way to do this, but i don't know how. can
anyone tell me, what Macromedia product [if any] and let me create folders and
download to them directly. please... i really need help.

There are third party apps that work with Flash that allow for read-write access...

thanks for the suggestion, i'm afraid if i load it from another movie, it will
cause alot of complications and i will have to rewrite all my scripting. i'm
really hoping that i don't have to go through that again, but... oh well
