flash actionscript: why can i make a button from text outside a symbol, but when i have a lot of
text, and want to use a certain font for a header and make that header a link,
can i not select the font and hit f8 to make it a symbol? I have tried
dragging in GIFs but I really want to the text to look exactly like it does in
the other areas. my text is all static text. i need these headers to work but
cannot get them to be symbol, cannot make rectangles around them.

thoughts please?

Create a static text field with some text in it.
Select the text you want as a link.
At the bottom of the screen you'll see a chain link icon with a textbox next
to it, put the url in there.
To the right is a drop down box for the target of the link.
