flash actionscript:
in the action script panel, there is no option to choose normal mode. Where is this now? I can't locate it at all. Im working on a japanese version so telling me to look in the manual will be a little moot. Also, can Flash MX files be saved for Flash 5. If Flash MX is this un-userfriendly, I dont want to use it any longer than I have to.
The behaviours panels do not have and easy way to implement the Action Scripts as it did in Flash 5 (which is why we never upgraded to MX because we also heard that they were doing away with this in that version). (ie gotoandplay/stop etc, where you just picked from a "drop down" menu for your scene, or labled frames) Macromedia really screwed up, by making this as UN userfriendly and un-newb friendly as possible. is there any way to save MX 2004 documents as Flash 5 seeing that we wont ever considering in purchasing Flash author program if they continue to do away with features that were actually helpful?
well, the actions panel still can fill in much of the code you would use. there's a plus sign on the upper left of the actions panel that allows you to pick actions that you want and it enters the code. i don't know any way to save a flash 2004 mx fla as a flash 5 fla.
Yeah I saw that. Yup MX 2004 is the Biggest disappointment of a software I've ever seen; NO backwards saving except to MX Has problems opening Flash 5 files (*and some MX files*) Has no basic/normal mode in the Action script panel which in essence makes it MORE time consuming for using actionscripts, hence more prone to "spelling" mistakes in your coding, hence, even MORE time to edit them when basic at least limited this from happening. Im so totally not gonna recommend our studio to upgrade to this new version. Is there anyone at Macromedia that we can yell at for turning a great product in to a piece of crap?

Anyone has a link to the Trial version of MX that I can download it or offering to sell their MX version. MX is still a disappointment, but its 100x better than mx 2004 so far.
You can downgrade your copy of Flash MX 2004 to Flash MX with Macromedia. They don't seem to publish this too much but if you send a copy of your purchase invoice and a legal serial number they will then send you a new serial number for MX and the software. I had to do this because 2004 is not NT compatable. Flash MX is much more straight forward than 2004. The ActionScript help in Normal mode is a life saver for a newb. You can also save as Flash 5. Hope this helps. DannySS

I know that mx2004 isn't the greatest, but you can perform functions similar to normal mode by using the Behaviors panel...I actually like this addition, but I don't see why they couldn't of kept the normal mode within the actionscript panel for users that rely on it.
they took it out the buggers :P [quoted text, click to view] "nwbstr" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:cf7f2g$si3$1@forums.macromedia.com... > I know that mx2004 isn't the greatest, but you can perform functions similar to > normal mode by using the Behaviors panel...I actually like this addition, but I > don't see why they couldn't of kept the normal mode within the actionscript > panel for users that rely on it. >
