flash actionscript: :confused;
I have a Flash MX Intro movie posted and it has been working just fine with
IE6 on my old Win98 machine. However, in my XP machine - also with IE6 - the
main site page does not open at the end of the Intro - using the "Get URL"
command in the action script.
Anyone familiar with this? I recently just got the XP machine and am totally
baffled. Many thanks for any help or insight!!

the operating system wouldn't cause a problem but the flash plug-in that's used
can vary from machine to machine and browser to browser. however, getURL() has
been around since flash 2, so it's hard to see that the plug-in version would
be a problem. it may be that the newer machine has a pop-up blocker of some
sort that's causing your problem.

After further investigation, it turns out the problem is a local one - on my
own machine. I had several friends look at this - using XP and IE6 also - and
they have no problem with it. There must be something corrupted in my system as
I also am having getting some javascripting to work. I will need to investigate
further as I do not have a popup blocker running and security settings are set
properly. Meanwhile - I very much appreciate your input.
