flash actionscript : Flash and Cookies?

I have a dynamic menu that is built from an XML file that creates sections that
open/close to reveal all the links within each section. The Flash menu file is
on a php page. I want to be able to do one or two things or both:

1.) Use cookies in Flash to track where the user has been so if they have 3
sections open and the rest closed and they click on another page and it reloads
the flash menu it will still show what they have already opened.

2.) Have Flash know which static URL's corrispond to which sections so that if
they click on one of ten static URLS the the menu will automatically "open"
that section.

If anyone has any suggestions or links for examples/tutorials to help me out
it would be greatly apprectiated!

Thank you!

Okay, I posted too quickly... :-)

i found some help for using local shared objects to control the tracking
issue with my menu... but the question still remains on how to predefine the
sections with the static URLS for each section so that the sections/link
defined in the XML file will "automatically" open that section when visited.

Thanks!
