flash actionscript : Movie Lagging?

At that size and if you are using fullscreen jpg's with alpha changes, you
would need a big videocard and a double-processor machine to -maybe- have it
running normally. Depending on your movie, you are probably asking too much of
the Flash-player. But without knowing more about the content of your movie...
it might be quite another problem.

Thanks Luigil...My movie mainly consists of graphics I've done in Freehand and
imported into Flash. It's an "outer space" look. There's a static jpeg 180 x
180 at the top right of my screen. The graphics I've done consist mainly of
glow effects and the animations are pretty simple, with scaling, tint, alpha,
as well as the use of motion guides to move the "comets" around. These
animations are a loop and there're about 7 different types going on at the same
time. It's about 400+ KB in size...hopefully there's a way around this, or is
reducing the framesize the only way to reduce the lag?

I suggest that instead having a screen size of 1024 x 768, u can still have a
smaller size with same aspect ratio and then just fscommand it to fullscreen,
if u'r images are of huge sizes jus compress them in flash itself..also
remember to add a line in the first frame of u'r file _quality="BEST"

hope this answers u'r qns.

Well, if your swf is about 400 KB one might think it's the programming (or the
lack of) that is slowing things down. Couldn't tell without seeing your fla. It
could be any number of things really. I can't look into it right now because
I'm on a tight deadline but wait for others to come online. They might try and
help you.

Hi all,

I've just completed a linear flash movie. However, I noticed that it was
lagging significantly after I exported it as swf, almost to the point of
watching a "slide show". Is it due to the window size (I'm doing 1024 x 768)?
If so, is there any way of reducing the lag if I need to maintain the
framesize?

Thanks in advance!
