flash actionscript : Action Script Normal Mode?

Hi,

I am attempting to learn some basic action script to add behaviours to
buttons. All the tutorials i have looked at including the Macromedia University
Flash 2 course mention that when you press F9 it brings up the action panel
(which it does) and that on the left hand side there will be an option Actions
then various other ones underneath.
On my computer I don't have actions as an option I have Global Functions then
Global Properties and then some other ones.
Then they go on to say that you can choose normal mode (which gives you lots
of assistance) and advanced mode - I do not seem to have this option at all.
When I click on the button they do to select the option all I have is View Esc
Shortcut keys, View Line Numbers, and Word wrap.

Long story short I really want it in Normal mode and can't get it there.
I have Macromedia Flash MX 2004 for PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Flash 6(MX) - has normal mode
Flash 7(MX 2004) - normal mode removed
Flash 8 - normal mode will be back

So, sorry, but normal mode was taken out of MX 2004... although it will be
back in the next version(along with a *ton* of new stuff)

and when it does come back it won't be called 'normal mode' it will have a new name "SCRIPT ASSIST"

well if you are upgrading... I have seen the upgrade offer... it is pretty
good... any previous version of ANY macromedia product to upgrade... so you
don't need to have had 2 or the whole suite to upgrade...

cheers
