this is a link to a really cool open source flash page turning book. The fact
that it is open source doe sthat mean that I can use it in my applications or
do I need permission from someone to use it first??? thanks J.

[quoted text, click to view]

No permission otherwise it would be written in the INFO frame inside that file for sure.

Check performance when you add more than 12 pages. I saw some comments that performance gets really bad when you have a lot of pages in the book.

Hi LuigiL,

I have a 14 pages book here.
http://www.ggshow.net/book.asp?e=05#example

I've have another 26 pages book, with high res photo & animation,
everything run smooth although i open multiple book at once.

The component from the site you mentioned, the book seen to be loaded very
fast but actually it load pages separately. Not all pages are ready when the
book looked like ready.

I've developed the flipping book component based on PageFlip v2 source by
http://www.iparigrafika.hu & I have my reason, I've tested its performance.

I dont understand your mean when you say "more than 12 pages" & "performance
gets really bad"? Do you mean the speed of loading the book? Machine CPU usage?
Memory usage? Based on getTimer before & after the instance? Please specify.

Any comments are welcome. :smile;

First of all, I said: I saw some comments... meaning some people used the open
source version and encountered performance problems when adding more than 12
pages. This could point to a depth issue in combination with alpha settings of
items on the pages or the standard items like the page shadows. And a
combination of the book with other items in the movie could also influence the
performance. By performance I mean things getting slow, turning the pages,
animations in the loaded pages getting slow.
And when it comes to loading: sure, you might get away with loading all pages
in a relatively small booklet but when you would use a bigger size movie
(800x600) with say 64 pages, it's better to load on demand - in my opinion and
I must add.
