flash actionscript : Targeting A Nested Input Text Box

I have a movie clip which contains an input text box. This movie clip resides
on my main stage, and is masked using a mask layer which is also on the main
stage. I am unable to select or enter information into the input text box. Is
there a way to target the input text box within the masked movie clip?
