flash actionscript:
Hi there, I'm really not getting this. Here's the issue: I stream an FLV file from another domain, I know the crossdomain.xml is setup properly. I know I can play the FLV, no matter if it's Sorensen or on2vp6 codec, as I'm running FP 8.5 because I've got the Flex 2.0 environment installed. I run my file, either locally or on a server, and I only get the mp3 sound, not the video. I can trace all the stuff about the video, time and buffer etc. I've tried so many different approaches now, and no matter what, I only get the sound streamed, nothing visual. I use the Flash 8 pro FLVPlayback component and attach a NetStream etc. - all very basic and standard. Tried IE, Firefox & Opera just to make sure - same result. My code is now all commented out, all I use to test is the standard MM code because all I want is to see the video. I would greatly appreciate any help right now, because it should be so simple and I'm using time on this that I haven't got, working towards a deadline Monday. I may be so stressed that I don't see the forest for all the trees, if you get my drift. Guys, please help a brother developer out :)
First is the Video and Audio seprate, if it is try just streaming the video, it could be because the audio file can be downloaded quicker than the video so it plays the Audio first. You could build something that will tell the sound to wait until the video is downloaded like Event Listeners ( if don't what an event listener is just ask :D). If it a joint video audio file then i stumpted sorry. I will say, check the vido file, u never know?
Hey again, Thanks for your reply. Thing is, honestly, I would count myself an extremely experienced flash developer, and I very rarely have to ask for help - but I really am stumped. It's a joint video/audio flv, and I know I can play it of off the publishers domain, because they've got FLV players available to test your content in. When I use theirs on their servers, it runs perfectly. Also, another developer in my agency had the flv running a couple of days back, but can't now either. I've just uploaded a new file to their server, and same result. I have no clue ...
I think i know what it is, I found u cannot import things from an external server, and go to be talking to experinced flash developer like you :D. Maybe u should download it onto your pc and try it that way (if it is possible).
Hey m8, That's cool, but I know I'm doing it correctly with external content, which you can do if you can get around the Flash Player security sandbox. (been flashing my way through life the last 6-7 years ;) ) Thanks anyways Star Tail .... Anyho, just tried with an flv placed in the same directory as my swf on my server, same result, nothing visual! Getting pretty frustrated right now indeed ....
