flash actionscript : duplicate movieclip into another parent

Hello there,

is it possible to duplicate a movieclip, so that the copy isn't a child of the
same parent as the original? I want to have a copy of an MC inside another MC,
but I need the copy on the root level and not inside the other MC. Is there a
way to do this (besides making a bitmap copy with Flash 8)?

greets,

Thanks guys (or girls), I was afraid that it's not possible. Hope it is in the
next Flash version, would be quite useful.

That 'level' thing is really a bit confusing, but it's also my fault, I used
it in the first post, meaning timeline. Anyway, it's clear now.

cheers,

Some rumors I've heard have reparenting as coming in with the next version of
actionscript. But in general no you can't do it now.

If the clip is an authortime clip you can export it for actionscript and then
attach it where you want.

If it is dynamic you can use the bitmap class as you have posted.

shyaway ? I think I would call that "same timeline." Since there are _levels
and they already get confused by many as layers and/or depths it would be
better to stay away from "level" unless that is really what you mean.
