flash actionscript : Pivot/Rotation point question

Hi all, I have a question about the pivot or rotation point (the white dot).
I'm trying to make an interface rotate a MovieClip depending on the mouse._x
position. (if mouse goes to the left, movieClip goes clockwise & vice versa).
Sure I could position the pivot point manually using the transform tool, but
what if that movieClip does not exist or if its ._width & ._x changes? The
MovieClip I'm trying to affect is created dynamically and populated by multiple
movieClips all loaded via ActionScript thus impossible to manually change the
pivot/rotation point. My question is simple:

I need to change the coords. of the pivot/rotation point of a MovieClip with
ActionScript, NOT THE TRANSFORM TOOL, is there a way?, How?

Thanks for your help
