dotnet framework : Steps to remove .NEt framework 3.0 SP1

I applied SP1 to .NET framework 3.0. Now I have to reverse it because
Dynamics GP 10 Business Portal doesn't recognize 3.0 SP1
What's the proper procedure to do the reversal since I have MOSS 2007
installed and configured properly with SP1 already.

Thanks

Bill

You could see if it shows up in Add/Remove programs, but my guess is that it
doesn't. I think if you go in and look at your automatic updates, you can
find a list of what has been installed, and maybe deinstall that one update.
I've seen it in Vista, but you don't say which version of the OS you're
running.

Dear Robins;
I was able to uninstall SP1 (which in fact, removed SP1 and any 3.0-related
components as well) then reinstall 3.0 from a download.
BP still showed the same error, not recognizing 3.0

Any registry entries that I need to take care of?

Thanks

Bill

Where are you installing 3.0 from? Is it a redistributable created prior to
SP-1 being released? Or is it from Microsoft.com? Could it be that it
includes SP1 now?

If you deinstall .Net 3.5 and .Net 3.0, are the folders still under
C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net... ? You could try rebooting, then delete them (I'd
rename them), reboot again, and then try installing 3.0 again. If SP1 is
included in the redistributable, then this won't help you.

When you say the Business Portal package doesn't recognize .Net 3.0 SP1, how
is it even recognizing it? Is it coming up and saying you don't have 3.0
installed?

Dear Robin;

I event used the removal tool listed in this weblog
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx to cleanup
v3.0 (not all Fx versions, only 3.0)
Still got the same error upon reinstalling 3.0 ( downloaded from Microsoft,
SFX setup v. 3.0.04506.30 )
Does this version install SP1 during the process as well?

I also found the following entries in the key "autorecover MOF's" in the
registry

C:\WINDOWS\MICROSOFT.NET\FRAMEWORK\V3.0\WINDOWS COMMUNICATION
FOUNDATION\SERVICEMODEL.MOF
along with many others.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Robin;

To answer your other question, BP 4.0 CD for GP10 includes a utility to
verify the prerequisites for BP installation.
There was a line item to tell you whether 3.0 is installed or not. This
keeps saying 3.0 not installed and flagged red, meaning an error must be
fixed.

I am going to uninstall/cleanup all .net versions and install again to see
if it works. If it doesn't, I'll give up!

Thanks

Bill

You should be able to install SP-1 for something crucial like the .net
framework. I'd have a little talk with the vendor about that.

Per your other post: I don't know if the distributable from MSFT includes
SP-1, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if it did. At this point, about
your only choice is to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows (not
vista). ;-)

Good luck. Sorry I couldn't help you more!
