flash data integration:
I used to use create Flash templates (.swt) and use Macromedia Generator to
process the variables to change text, colors, etc. in the Flash files.

I moved to another job where I was away from Flash development for a couple of
years. I have changed jobs again and need to use a Generator-type solution
again.

Has Generator been replaced by another product? Can you still create Flash
templates and send them data? Is server software necessary?

I have been searching the site and I am overwhelmed and confused as to where
to look. If anyone is familiar with the old Generator product and can steer me
in the right direction or give me a quick update on the current software, I
would appreciate it. Thanks!

Generator has definitely gone bye-bye. Can't say that I ever used it, so I
can't address it in relation to the current technologies. There are really
three options now: XML, web services or Flash Remoting. Check this out and see
if it helps to clarify the differences:

and for more info:

If this is where you've been already and you still have questions, tell us
what you have in the way of technologies and tell us what you're trying to do
and maybe we can make some recommendations.

Good luck!
