Relative Path in Flash Interpreted per Calling Page??? jerrygarciuh

flash data integration:
Hello,

I have a ticker utilizing an XML file. I have found that the swf seems to
interpret a relative path in terms of the location of the HTML or PHP page
calling the animation.

Am I correct? Is there a publication setting to control this? I do not
understand why it would be a _GOOD_ idea for the animation to be unable to
look in its own directory for a file.

TIA,

jg

Yes, the swf will take on the physical path of the parent, in this case the
parent is the calling web page. Although it would be nice to be able to tell
the movie to use the calling path or physical path, I have not yet found an
option of doing this. So I place all my swf's in a single directory and have
the swf reference /flash/ or directory name so it can always find what its
looking for no matter where it is loaded.
