flash data integration:
Hello,

I would like to create a Word Document and import that word document into
Flash. I'm not talking about data integration from an outside file, but
literally taking text from a text/word document and Flash create the timelines
and tweens based on paragraph breaks, etc. Is there a component available that
will do this. I have foreign Flash developers that don't understand English
very well, and we have 6 to 10 minute movies that are basically text. This
would increase our production significantly.

Thanks!

Don't think this is possible. You MAY be able to save the Word file as XML and work from there, but Word writes such bloated code that even this may not be worth the pain.

Cheers!

Hello David,

Thanks for the reply. I don't even care if it's just notepad... But you know
how you can type in text into Swift and it will create the tween and keyframes
in Flash? It stands to reason that this can be improved upon to generate lots
of keyframes and tweens for text?

Thanks.

hey Adam--

Sure. What you suggest sounds reasonable. You could set up a single Flash
template file that would read an XML file or a straight text file and populate
some animations for you. You'd always need to make sure to keep your text files
and SWF files together on the server, but that's not a biggie.

You could even pass the name of the text file into the SWF from the HTML
wrapper using a URL variable or a Flash Param.

Also note (because I've seen it recently in another thread here): you can't
animate a dynamic text box that uses device fonts. The text just disappears.

Hello Everyone,

I apologize. Obviously, I am not explaining what I need correctly... I do
not want to load files into an swf. I want to build the text within the fla
file so that I can do tweening and insert images AFTER THE TEXT IS IN THE FLA.
If you have ever used Swift 3d, you give it text and it will build the
keyframes for the transition. I'm trying to find out if you can take that
premise and create 5 - 10 minutes worth of text in keyframes within the fla.

Thanks!

You could try using Swish for auto-generated text effects.
