Hello,

Prior to pursuing some PHP project, I'd need to know the official status of
AMFPHP in the eyes of MacroMedia - is it sort of "illegal", since it is
developed by hacking into the undocumented AMF format, or is it "Okay" to
use and there are no kind of bitterness feelings about it from MMs side?

Thanks,

Check the interview with Lucian Beebe at Community MX:

Q: "What's Macromedia's position on open-source Flash Remoting projects like
AMFPHP and OpenAMF?"
A: "We don't really take a position on it. We're not against it, or for it,
necessarily. I think there's a lot of good that can come of it. The downside
is that we're not in control of it. Not from a monetary perspective, but
from a quality perspective. Things can happen to make the quality a
disaster, and we have no control over that. Apart from that, we don't say
there's anything wrong with it. Community innovations have always been the
driver for Flash."

There's an article on how to set up AMFphp on Macromedia.com, so I wouldn't
assume they're opposed.
