macromedia flash flash remoting: Our local flash remoting development has been done on a .NET server, and
everything works fine. We moved the code to a deployment server that runs both
..NET and ColdFusion. The new server does not give any response (no errors, no
net debugger output, nothing...). If we use the default Cold Fusion gateway
('flashservices/gateway') and call the service we get an error saying that the
required service does not exist.

So... Does Flash Remoting run on a server that runs both Cold Fusion and
..NET?? Flash Remoting has not been installed for .NET on the deployment
server - the provider claims this is not necessary because Cold Fusion will
provide the necessary connectivity components to integrate Remoting with .NET.

I am wondering the same thing. My development server is running coldfusion and
I have used flash remoting to connect to cold fusion components. Now I am
needing to develop .Net applications on this same server and would like to do
remoting to .Net. Do I need to buy flash remoting for .Net as well as the
flash remoting I already have with cold fusion? Can I install it on the same
server without messing up the cold fusion flash remoting? I was going to get
the trial version of flash remoting for .Net to see if it would work but don't
want to mess up my server.

Any one doing both and if so any suggestions or lessons learned.

Thanks

You will need Flash Remoting .net installed on your deployment server. Even
though coldfusion MX is installed if you want to use .NET then you'll need .net
remoting installed. Coldfusion only knows how to handle remoting throuch CFCs
not .net assemblies or aspx pages.

I've never run both .net remoting and coldfusion mx on the same server so I
don't know what kind of can of worms you'll be opening.

Good luck,
