macromedia flash flash remoting:
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone has an idea what's going on.

I am using Flash MX 2004 Professional on OS X, 10.3.4. I installed the flash
remoting components (version 2).

When I try to publish the file, I get a debug message that says, "Identifier
Expected." The debug cites line 1, which reads:

import mx.remoting.*;

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the components, to no avail. The
installer always says it performed the install successfully. I have tried this
on two machines (450 G4, and a 1.6 G5).

I'm not sure if this is related, but after each install of the components, I
must trash the two Flash preference files, or Flash will freeze up. This also
happens on both machines.

Any solutions, or even shots in the dark would be appreciated.

Thanks.

- Charles

To use the Remoting Classes unzip the contents of RemotingSourceCode.zip
into the folder

[Flash MX 2004]\en\First Run\classes

Delete the .aso files from the user profiles folder and restart Flash MX
2004

Hi Giorgio,

Thank you so much for the link. I did it exactly as it said, but still no
luck. I get the same error. I even restarted the entire machine after deleting
the .aso files.

One descrepency is that on OS X, there is no "user profiles" folder.

I performed a search for any other locations of .aso files, and found none. Is
there, perhaps, any other location I need to delete something from?

I did delete the Flash preferences files, as well.

Thanks again, Giorgio. And if anyone else has any ideas, please chip in. This
problem has me reverting to the old loadMovie/onData method... ugh!

Charles,

Did you drag instances of the remoting classes on to your movie stage?

In Flash, navigate to: Window -> Other Panels -> Common Libraries -> Remoting

Drag both of the library items on to your stage and try testing your movie
again.

Hope that helps -
