macromedia flash flash remoting:
Hi,

I'm new to Remoting yet I have a lot of experience using PHP, Flash and SQL...
On the other side my peers are all Java programmers, a few with some CF
experience..

What we are looking to do is allow Flash and the current Java site to
communicate... I've read up a bit on this subject but everything I've found
points to using a Gateway ( duh you say, I know)... Well here's the problem
I've run into with this...

There are many solutions to use as a Gateway but none seem to fit the bill..
OPENAMF, no tutorials or complete technotes out for it and it appears to be an
extinct project.... AMFPHP, nice thought but has nothing to do with talking to
Java... Then there is MM's solution Remoting MX, that supports CF ( imagine
that), Linux and Windows but the cost seems a bit high to justify purchasing
for such a small project.

So is there a way we can quickly build a secure Gateway to use on our Tomcat
server? Also what inherent security risks are there to using Flash and Java...?

I use Flash > Flash Remoting > Jrun (java) and it works without any security
holes. Since Tomcat is not a full J2EE server you'll need an alternative to
open source (J2EE, CF, .NET). If this isn't an option, you'll have to look
into amfphp. Sorry.

Also it doesn't look like it would run on Novell Netware 6.5
