macromedia flash flash remoting : netservices.as missing

In advance, I am a novice to flash remoting, but based on what I understand at
the present time I should have a good configuration if I have remote components
installed, coldfusion mx running on iis or coldfusion server, and the
extensions loaded in the flash dev environment. I am going through some very
basic tutorials and have discovered that netservices.as is not present after
completing the previous requirements. I am looking in C:\Program
Files\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\en\First Run\Include and components loaded are
flashremoting_comp_as20-win-en.exe, version of flash is mx 2004 pro and the 7.2
updater has been installed. Thanks for any input.

My NetServices.as and all the expected 'iniclude' files are missing as well. I installed the remoting components to MX2004 just as indicated.

The problem was resolved for me when I downloaded and installed Flash Remoting
Components ActionScript 1.0 for Flash MX 2004 rather that the Flash Remoting
ActionScript 2.0 versions which I had installed on the first 2 days of
troubleshooting :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks Adam.
This worked for me also. But I can't say I'm thrilled with the solution. So we are stuck using outdated components? Is there a channel to get some feedback from MM on this?

Nothing negative towards Macromedia, but I have not heard back from any of the
emails to support on this topic. Of course there is paid support but we all
concur thats not a preference. Apparently, Macromedia made some large scale
changes in the 2004 product, intended to provide a more advanced development
environment, which I have no doubt that they have succeeded. But this appears
to be leaving a curve in getting up to speed with the new product in contrast
to the previous version.. I found some nice ref info at www.flash-remoting.com
and in the book. Good luck.

Does that mean that all the .as are the older (ActionScript 1.0) versions?
Then, I conclude that if you want to use the AS2 version you should use the
compiled swcs... (RemotingClasses and RemotingDebugClasses from Common
Libraries) but how does that work? I need to use the remoting features in my
component, I just can?t load the remoting classes even if the swcs are present
in the component?s fla file... I tried installing the AS1 version but the
installer did not work (see the screenshot at
http://chapeco-online.com.br/error.jpg) - some kind of msi error ... but what
I?d like to know is: Do I need the AS1 version even if I just want to code
using the newer version?

After failing to get 2 Remoting tutorials(from the book) to work with MX 2004
Pro, I tried them in 2002 MX. They work fine.

Something is seriously broken in my installation of the Remoting Components.
Also installed the trial version and components on another machine, with no
previous installation of Flash, with the same result.

Very dissapointing.

I had the same problem you all had (tha .as files could not be found) and after
spending many hours on this problem I found out that Macromedia changed the way
to connect to remote services in ActionScript 2.0 , and that's the reason we
are all having this stupid problem.
What I sugest we all do is to be carefull when learning Flash Remoting to look
for the 2004 version not just MX, so like that you will not run into any
problems.
You can (and should) download the PDF from Macromedia located at,
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flash_remoting/
Hopefully this should solve all problems in the past and in the future.
